I was flipping through the NYT Sunday Styles section this Monday and I came across a small article on a photographer I had never heard of, Georges Dambier. From the first glance at the picture accompanying the article, I knew I needed to do a little research on this photographer. Dambier started his career working with the famous artist and poster designer Paul Colin. After WWII Dambier started his photography career which would eventually land him a permanent job at Elle magazine and many other fashion publication's including Vogue, over the years. He was a prominent fashion photography in Paris through the 1950's which is where most of the photos above are taken. I love how he captures women in such unique and elegant manner. Very feminine. Aren't they lovely?

OMG MAPS OMG
Anyone that knows me knows I have a map obsession. Currently I have 4 framed in my apartment along with a decorative "K" in my room with a vintage map motif. So of course I am in love with these map prints from JHill Design. She even does personalized ones for custom orders. So neat! Right now you can enter to win a custom print over at Cornflake Dreams. I entered, will you??
St. Patrick
Even though I am Irish I never really get into the holiday. I didn't even celebrate here in Chicago this
weekend, mostly wanting to avoid a hangover for an entire week. I am stuck in bed all day sick, and therefore definitely will not be going out. So, I thought I would celebrate a tiny bit and do a green related post of some of my favorite green stuff around the web. For those of you not stuck in bed, have a fun and boisterous night!

Claire-Anne O'Brien
To my chagrin, I discovered this morning that the stool at my makeup table completely broke. How
serendipitous it was then that I came across these gorgeous stools by Claire-Anne O'Brien. They look
so incredibly comfortable and are super stylish! I am in love. Her work is so unique and delightfully
homey.

Trench Trendy
So for any of you who read this blog regularly, you probably know about my obsession with coats. I think they are the easiest way to look put together and the best accessory. Thus, my obsession extends to spring and summer coats, especially trenches. There is nothing better than a form-fitting khaki trench to look sophisticated and elegant. Here are some of my favorite (non khaki trench) coats from around the web that would look fabulous for Spring. ( I also threw in a few rainy day accessories for good measure!) How amazing is the yellow coat and those boat goulashes? So cute!

Ski Lodge Getaway
I am so excited to report SweetPea readers, that I am finally going on a trip! Yippeee! Tonight my guy and I are loading up the car and heading north for a ski getaway in Thompsonville, Michigan. I am so excited to hit the slopes and learn how to snow board! Here is my getaway outfit, perfect for a snow bunny! (The only thing I don't own is the back pack, very unfortunate). Either way, I like any excuse to rock fair isle print with heeled lumberjack boots :). Happy weekend!

Eggcelent
I used to take my eggs, if ever, only one-way: scrambled. Lot's of salt and pepper and almost burnt to avoid any "egg" taste. Recently though, thanks to my guy, I have been introduced to eggs-over-
easy and let me say, it changed my life. I can't get enough of the delicious, oeey gooey "egg" taste that I used to HATE. Now, I love any style of egg. Poached, sunny side up, over easy, and recently, I even tried them on a hamburger! Gah! (Very French of me I know). Now that I consider myself an egg enthusiast, I think I need these adorable egg shapers. They shape your egg to a lovely flower design and would make entertaining for brunch extremely easy! How do you take your eggs?

Have a Fantastic Friday!
Oh joy it's Friday! At last! I am so excited because tonight my roommate from Paris, and her roommate are coming in from Florida to spend the weekend with me! We will probably do a lot of wine drinking, catching up and eating at yummy spots around the city! What are you all doing this weekend? Whatever it is I hope it's fabulous and I hope the weather is nice wherever you are!
If your a pattern or fabric junkie, this website will keep you preoccupied for hours!
I need to find these food trucks!

Stripes
So, I still have two rooms in my apartment that I would like to paint. One, which is my entry hallway and the other, my bathroom. For my bathroom, it's a very small, typical bathroom apartment with hardly any space but for a shower and sink. So, the only real decorating you can do is with a fabulous shower curtain, which fortunately I have! That said, I think I want to do large, horizontal, heather grey stripes to accent the shower curtain and add a little more pizzaz to the space. Here are a few of my favorite striped rooms from around the web. I can't wait until my apartment is finished and I will be posting all my pictures. (For those of you who have followed me from the beginning, this is a long time coming!) Happy Friday!

"Oh What A Beautiful Morning... Oh What A Beautiful Day"
Ok, so I am totally aware of how much of a bad blogger I have been recently! I have been so busy with work, family and personal life (and I am not going to lie the weather last week got me down and pretty lazy) that I just could not find the time or inspiration it seemed! However, what better day to get back on the horse than the "day of love"! I am assuming it can be translated into the "day of forgiveness" as well and therefore you will all forgive me for my pathetic and embarrassing slacking.
That said, I am all giddy inside today because I had a fabulous weekend and the sun is shining here and it is above 30 degrees! REPEAT: ABOVE FREEZING! It feels like I am on holiday and I have been smiling all day.
Then, I came across this amazing print and it just pushed me over the edge into almost hyper-happiness. The Smith's reference is just so darn smart and sexy. Happy Valentine's Day's to all the lovers, the haters and the apathetic lazy souls that don't give two shi$%'s about today because, well, we've all been there. XOXO

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
So the genius graphic designer Andrey Kolb has amazingly turned Lady Gaga's "Telephone" into a 50's style children's book. I have no words except sooooo cool! If I had children they would totally have this. Check out the entire "story" here. I wonder what Gaga would think of this....??
Yum
How AMAZING is this heart cake from I Am Baker? The heart is red-velvet. YUM! This blogger is one of the most talented bakers I have ever seen and her blog is full of mouth-watering and visually remarkable treats! I wish I could order this cake because I don't think I have the patience or skill to make it. For those who are braver than I, here is the tutorial. Happy Wednesday!

Snowed In!
Well the blizzard of 2011 finally hit Chicago! I am holed up in the apartment, cozy and warm with Tinkerbell and made some chicken tortilla soup! Hopefully I will be able to get down to Starbucks tomorrow so I am not working from home for the 3rd day in a row! I will need these to get around for sure!

Red or Blue?
To my delight, Valentine's Day is fast approaching! I am guessing I get equal squeals of joy from half of you and a cynical eye roll from the other half. I have definitely been on both sides of that opinion about February 14th, so no judgement either way. This year, however, I am cautiously optimistic that it will be fun no matter what my plans are! I also love any excuse to buy a new party dress, especially one thats sweet and sexy. I am thus lusting after this little Ted Baker number with the fabulous detail around the neck (it's tiny little hearts that form the ruffle! Cute no!?) My only dilemma is the color-choice. My gut instinct is to go with red. It's Valentines Day, so duh. However, I love the gorgeous sapphire hue and it also has the heart detail so still a perfect and subtle option. So my dears, what's your vote? Red or Blue?
Are You Ready For Some Football?
How amazing is this Super Bowl themed party spread from Coco+Kelly? I never thought I would live to see the day of adorable, whimsical and classy football decor. I am glad I have, though, I wish I could actually throw a party! My dog is no longer in the fight (damn Bears) but for those of you planning a party this would be so cute! I love the little football players in the planter for a centerpiece!

Have a Sexy Weekend
Yay my lovelies it's Friday! I am so ready for this weekend even though it was a short week! Tonight I think I will be seeing a movie with my favorite intern Jane and getting some drinks! Also, the Bears vs. Packers on Sunday will determine who goes to the superbowl so it's a pretty big weekend here in Chicago. I will likely be viewing the game in a rowdy bar with some beers and cheer :). What are you all doing this weekend? I hope everyone is having an amazing time at Alt and I can say with certainity I will be there next year! Stay warm! xoxox
This is one of my new favorite blogs. I am obsessed with her gorgeous fashion illustrations!

Ravishing Red
Ok I am seriosuly on board for the red blazer trend! I think it is the perfect way to add a pop of color to an outfit while still donning a classic staple piece. It would be so sweet for Valentines Day or in the summer with some white matchstick jeans. Or for the very bold, smear on some red lipstick for exta va-va-va voom! Doesn't the first girl look so Parisian chic? Love her!

Room Inspiration
Hello dearies! I wanted to share this image from the home page of Ferm Living since it's the exact color scheme of my living room! The grey, tourquoise and yellow is spot on with my inspirations. I love, though, that in this picture they added a purple element. It is exactly the mis-matched pop of color and aesthetic I was missing! Needless to say I will likely be purchasing a purple pillow this weekend!
P.S. If you like the pillows you can find them here!
